How We Support Business
Dún Garbhán le Gaeilge is the lead, officially recognised Irish language organisation whose main aim is to promote Irish within Dungarvan and Abbeyside. The company is made up of a voluntary board and an Irish Language Planning Officer- Bróna Coleman. We are here to support all local businesses who would like to improve their visibility and use of Irish within their business. Some of the ways we can do this is:
A free translation Service
This service is aimed at those looking to have smaller pieces such as menus etc translated to Irish so that they can be available either in Irish or Bilingually.
Support with applying for grants
Dún Garbhán le Gaeilge are on hand to help any business who want to improve their visibility of Irish. This includes help when applying for a grant with Foras na Gaeilge which can provide up to 50% of the cost of signage when the signage is done in Irish.
Gnó na Seachtaine
A weekly campaign which promotes businesses who use Irish. Gnó na Seachtaine highlights all business’s in the area who provide service in Irish. This includes video or photo footage taken of the business/ employees which is then advertised on our social media.
Workshops for businesses
Workshops can be made available to employees to inform them on supports and resources available to help improve the use of Irish in their business.
Classes directed at local business owners/employees
Classes will be made available yearly directed solely towards businesses to help them increase the availability of service through Irish.
Guidance regarding Gradam Gnó na hÉireann
Dún Garbhán le Gaeilge provide year round help to help businesses obtain an award in the competition and to help those who have already received and award progress to the next level.
